Do you need a chocolate fix?

Have you ever been sitting on the sofa, watching something worthless on TV and you have a terrible craving for chocolate but there's nothing in the house to satisfy it? Here is a recipe for Chocolate Pudding Cake that is fast, easy, delicious and made from ingredients you have on hand:

Chocolate Pudding Cake

Cake ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cake ingredients: Sift flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and cocoa together into a 9" square baking dish. Stir in milk, butter and vanilla. Spread batter in pan.

Topping ingredients: Mix topping sugars and cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour water over all and bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until top springs back lightly when touched.

The "topping" turns into a thick, dark chocolate sauce that oozes out of the crusty-topped cake.

YUMMY!

This sounds delicious - I'll be making it this afternoon I'm sure. A few hours in the garden thinking chocolate should do it!

This looks like what I have been looking for. There used to be a box mix called "Pie O My" pudding cake..it came in chocolate and butterscotch...they were excellent.
thanks for sharing.

In the 50s, there was a children's program on WXYZ TV out of Detroit called Wixie Wonderland. The host was called, Wixie. He wore a beanie with a twirly thing on top, and when he did the commercial for Pie-O-My, he jumped up and down and sang: It's not a puddin', it's not a cake, it's Pie-O-My new pudding cake." My children loved this jingle and jumped up and down and sang with him. I was sorry when I couldn't find the product in the stores any more. I have had a recipe for it for years and and making tonight it for my son's 60the birthday cake. This has always been his very favorite. It's yummy. Serve warm with ice cream for extra pleasure.
