Hauntingly beautiful - Antony and the Johnsons

I have been listening to this man's haunting and profoundly moving voice for two weeks straight. I am mesmerized by the beauty of his music.

The clip is from the Leonard Cohen documentary, "I'm Your Man."

Leonard Cohen:

"A lot of those songs are just the response to what struck me as beauty--whatever that curious emanation from a being or an object or a situation or a landscape, you know. That had a very powerful effect on me, as it does on everyone. And I prayed to have some response to the things that were so clearly beautiful to me and they were alive."

What a perfect, simple yet profound statement about beauty and the urge to create art.

Also check out the Antony songs Her Eyes Are Buried Underground, Epilepsy is Dancing, Aeon and Hope Mountain. And pretty much anything by Leonard Cohen.

God bless Leonard Cohen and God bless Antony. What beautiful spirits.

A Blog with Something for Everyone

Ann and I have blogged frequently about the Willows, a group of women business owners we meet with regularly for friendship, encouragement and support. This small group has become so important to all of us, not only in terms of our businesses, but also in terms of our lives. The only Willow I haven't posted about yet is the lovely Ria Sharon. Ria is, among other things, the co-author of a web site called mymommymanual.com. Whether you are a mom or not, this blog has lots to recommend it. After all, with posts like How to Overcome Fear, How to be an Angel and How to Do What You Love, there is something here for everyone. Thanks for your friendship and inspiration, Ria.
